WHO WE ARE

The YWCA Elmira and the Twin Tiers has been serving our community for over 100 years. Nationally, in 1887, a home was established for young women leaving farms to work in industry. In 1914 the YWCA Elmira was established.  Since then, the YWCA's programs have grown and evolved to meet community needs.

OUR YOUTH

We are the largest child care provider in Chemung County, offering quality care for pre-school through 6th grade. Our Kids World & Summer Enrichment programs serve over 700 children daily in our before- and after-school programs, as well as holidays at multiple sites.

“We’d be lost without Kids World. If my 9 year old son didn’t have a safe, fun place to go to after school, I couldn’t keep working. My son loves Kids World, and looks forward to it everyday. Since he started in September, his behavior and grades are already better."

YOUR HEALTH

The YWCA’s Women’s Breast Health program has a certified “fitter” in our Pink Boutique who can fit a breast cancer patient properly with a quality prostheses, mastectomy bra and swimwear. They are also happy to fit any woman properly for any bra or swimwear. We provide breast surgery patients with a FREE post-operative camisole. We provide some emergency funding for breast cancer survivors through our Patient Relief Fund.

“Thank you for the free camisole. It was so thoughtful to recognize a basic need as well as lifting the spirit."
