ADMINISTRATION
Evening/Weekend Receptionist
Primary Function: To greet and provide information to the public. To enter and maintain accurate information in the YWCA databases. Responsible for all funds received during hours of duty. Close the YWCA building at the end of the day.
Qualification: Minimum of high school diploma with ability to collect money prepares deposits. It is mandatory that the individual be able to use the computer for word processing and data entry. Experience with Quickbooks helpful.
Accountable to: Director of Administration
Responsibilities:

Answer telephones, route calls, greet visitors and provide information about the organization.

Ensures safety of building by screening visitors as to the nature of their visit and announcing them to appropriate personnel. Visitors must be asked to sign in and should not be allowed to freely roam the building without a staff escort.

Register individuals for programs and facility use.

Collect fees for programs.
-
Account for all funds collected during the persons work period.

Work with all departments to assist with printing, photo copying, event preparation and projects.

Check printer and copier for paper, toner; fill as needed.

Administrative support to staff as requested.

Inventory supplies in supply closet.

Oversee evening and weekend building activities.
-
Responsible for all closing procedures.
Other: Regularly communicate with supervisor and report any issues or concerns in a timely manner. CEO. Provide a professional image in appearance, communication, and demeanor personally and of the front desk.
Physical demands:
Ability to sit, stand, bend, push, pull, or carry 15lbs.
This position is non-exempt hourly. Hours of this position are 3:00pm – 7:30pm Monday – Friday and Saturday 10am – 3:30pm.

Childcare
KIDS WORLD AFTER SCHOOL
PROGRAM SITE COORDINATOR
Grade: K - 6th
Locations:
(Currently taking applications)
Program Hours: Monday - Friday 1:30pm - 6:00pm
Program Length: 2016 - 2017 school year
Primary Function:
Oversees the day to day management of the after-school Kids World program, maintaining a safe, secure environment and quality program in accordance with the YWCA missions and NYS Office of Children & Family Services as well as federal, state, and local codes.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in child development, elementary education, physical education, recreation or a related field and or two years direct experience working with children under 13 years of age including at least one year in a supervisory capacity. OR Two years of college with 18 credits in the above listed areas of concentration.
Duties:
1. Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum
2. Monitor and be actively involved with the children
3. Take the lead in helping children organize activities as individuals and in groups
4. Team player - collaborate with child care staff to plan special activities for the children and their families.
5. Maintain current records and reports pertaining to the children in the after school program
6. Maintain a positive rapport with school Superintendent, Principal, Teachers and Custodial staff.
7. Maintain a clean, healthy and organized classroom environment
8. Complete required activities and paperwork in a timely manner, i.e. fire drills, attendance sheets, etc.
9. Attend all required meetings, in-services and training sessions.
Required:
1. Annual physical and TB test
2. Pass a criminal background check
3. To be NYS fingerprinted through the Office of Children and Family Services
4. Follow ALL child care regulations
5. CPR/AED and First Aid certified

CHILD CARE ASSISTANT FOR KIDS WORLD PROGRAMS
General Function:
Under the general direction of the Site Coordinator/After School Program Director, the Child Care Assistant is responsible for on-site activity, leadership, working directly with children. Staff members must be qualified by training and experience to carry out their respective functions in the administration, operation and maintenance of the school-age child care program, Kids World. Greets everyone by using names whenever possible; extended thanks whenever appropriate; makes relationship building the number one priority at all times. The position is responsible for ensuring that the child care programs convey the mission, purpose, image and core of the YWCA Elmira & the Twin Tiers.
Qualifications:
1. At least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma
2. Experience working with children under 13 years of age, preferably in an organized setting
3. Bring to this position maturity, responsibility, and sincere interest in working with children and staff members.
4. Have very strong interpersonal and organizational skills
5. knowledge of various resources for programming ideas and the skills to utilize that information in assisting daily activities.
6. Knowledge of age appropriate activities and expectations of children ages 5-12
7. Attend all required meetings, in-services and training session related to childcare

SUBSTITUTE CHILD CARE ASSISTANT
Year-round part-time positions
General Function:
This position is an on-call, as needed, and lasts year-round. Candidate must have experience in an educational setting and working with children ages 4-12. Candidate must posses high moral character and be dedicated to engaging children in learning.

Aquatics
CERTIFIED LIFEGUARD
Summary:
Under general supervision of the Recreation & Fitness Supervisor, ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies while upholding the YWCA Elmira agency mission and values in a professional manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facilitity
2. Acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the even of an emergency
3. Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of EMS
4. Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service
5. Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility
6. Prepares and maintains appropriate activity/facility reports
7. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements:
High school or higher with 6 months to 1 year experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified above. CPR certified, current certifications as lifeguard by a recognized source of training. Must be abel to work in aquatic environment, hot humid conditions, and must be willing to enter the water any time. Must be able to lift 50lbs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required:
1. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
2. Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
3. Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork
4. Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures
5. Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions
6. Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures
7. Available to work weekends/holidays
8. Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills

SWIM INSTRUCTOR
Summary:
Under general supervision of the Recreation & Fitness Supervisor, ensures the safety of students while providing swim instruction in an efficient and professional manner. Must be able to adhere to curriculums and national standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Provide competent, safe instruction using recognized lead up skills established by our profession and national aquatic agencies
2. Plan and efficiently organize class time for maximum practice. This is accomplished through weekly lesson plans.
3. Teach with encouragement and positive reinforcement
4. Provide for consistency in instruction by working each assigned session
5. Promote good public relations by talking with parents before and after class
6. Dress appropriately for all classes
7. Complete program forms in a timely manner
8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
